Student Opportunities
Community Engagement
College of Engineering students may engage in the community in a variety of ways that include the Ninjaneer Program. Ninjaneers are the fusion of ninjas, engineers and volunteers. They are responsible for the success of major events in the College of Engineering because of their unseen commitment in service to other students and professionals.
Students can engage in Engineering Student Leadership Council (ESLC) events like The Golden Trail and TCM Day as individuals or as members of College of Engineering affiliated student organizations. In either case, the ESLC Community Engagement Chair coordinates these efforts.
Engagement can also be in service activities with the College of Engineering K-12 Outreach activities:
- Orange and Blue Day
- FIRST® Robotics events
- Tours of the College of Engineering
- Visits to schools in the region and other large-scale events
The Engineering / Computer Science Ambassadors coordinate these efforts. Participation in these activities is more formal as Criminal Background Checks and Youth Protection Trainings become part of the process to becoming a Ninjaneer.
