Army Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions (HBCU-MI) Student Program for Army Research and Knowledge (SPARK) Summer Internship
The Army Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions (HBCU-MI) Student Program for Army Research and Knowledge (SPARK) is one of the noble science outreach programs under the auspices of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology that offers U.S. graduates and undergraduates in STEM fields a research opportunity at an Army facility within the Army’s science and technology enterprise.
Students will be assigned a project, mentor, and tasks to lead to publishable results based on the specific research question assigned. The projects are bounded accordingly, so the student has milestones to achieve conclusions. At the end of the program, the students will present their research findings at the summer symposium.

DAAD - Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE)
RISE is a summer internship program for undergraduate students from the United States, Canada and the UK in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. RISE offers unique opportunities for Bachelor students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a period of 2 to 3 months during the summer. RISE interns are matched with doctoral students whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. The working language will be English. All scholarship holders receive stipends from The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to help cover living expenses, while partner universities & research institutes provide housing assistance.

DoE Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Program
The Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program creates a pathway for you to advance your Ph.D. thesis research while working at a Department of Energy (DoE) National Laboratory, collaborating with world-class scientists, and using state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge scientific instrumentation. While maximizing the impact of your own research, you will also expand your professional network and develop new opportunities for your future.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Minimum Age and U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR)
- Academic Status
- Enrollment in a Qualified Graduate Program
- Graduate Research aligned with DoE Office of Science Research Programs
- Establishment of a Collaborating DoE Laboratory Scientist

DoE Scholars Program at the National Nuclear Security Administration
The DoE Scholars Program at the NNSA provides paid opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and recent graduates to:
- Be part of world-class research and operations opportunities within the NNSA enterprise
- Enhance their preparedness for scientific, technological and policy related careers
- Establish connections with Department of Energy (DOE)/NNSA scientists and subject matter experts that promote long-term relationships between yourself, researchers, and other professionals in their field
Benefits:
- Stipend
- Undergraduate student - $750 per week
- Graduate student - $950 per week
- Remote Participation or Commuting Supplement - $50 per week to offset expenses associated with remote participation for virtual appointments or commuting to/from your official assigned location and to local meetings/training for in person appointments.
- Inbound-Outbound Travel - limited inbound/outbound transportation expenses, not to exceed $1,000, from your current address to the assigned location, you relocate more than 50-miles one way from your home location.
Qualifications: (You must meet the following to be eligible for an internship)
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be pursuing or have a degree in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline or a field that supports the NNSA operations mission including but not limited to communications, management, business and law

DoW HBCU/MI Summer Research Internship Program
Is a program that offers a unique research opportunity for current students and recent graduates from STEM and DoW-relevant disciplines at HBCUs and MIs. By providing a vital link between academic learning and practical application, the program aims to cultivate a diverse pool of minority scientists and engineers who may pursue careers within the DoW. During the internship, participants gain hands-on experience at DoW facilities at the forefront of innovation and can apply this knowledge to further their educational and professional aspirations.
Benefits:
- Participants will receive a stipend of $1400/week, paid bi-weekly
- The program will provide a dislocation payment of $800.00 to help with relocation expenses, including baggage fees, taxi/uber services, meals, tolls, transportation to and from the airport, etc
- The program will coordinate travel to and from the lab (at the beginning) and the lab (at the end) of the research period. The coordinated travel may be by airplane or train. The program administrator will book travel; selected interns should NOT book travel
- Housing is provided and will be coordinated by the program
- All selected interns are required to attend the Intern Seminar, which will be held in Arlington, VA, on July 10 -11, 2025. The program will book travel and hotel rooms for all selected interns

Idaho National Laboratory Internships
Idaho National Laboratory offers a diverse number of paid internship positions to undergraduate and graduate level students. These internship opportunities enable students to collaborate with experienced engineers in order to develop innovative solutions to challenging, real-world projects.

The MERITUS Program supports highly motivated faculty-student teams for 32 weeks of multidisciplinary, hands-on research. Each team prepares a project proposal packet that includes a project description and mentoring plan. MERITUS students will also receive professional development through workshops spaced throughout the academic year. The aim of the program is to encourage students to gain valuable professional skills through immersion in research projects enabling them to acquire a deeper understanding of their chosen discipline.
Application Period: April 1 - June 15 Annually

National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency NGA Student Internship Program
Interns are guaranteed work that contributes to NGA's mission of creating worldclass geospatial intelligence. All interns will be assigned projects from their supervisor. At the end of the summer, interns will have the opportunity to participate in a forum and present their projects to the agency's top executives.
Student Programs will also provide informational events, luncheons, tours and more.
Eligibility:
- Open to associate, undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students.
- Open to a large variety of degree fields, depending on the internship program.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program (MSIPP)
The mission of the Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program (MSIPP) is to create and support a sustainable career pathway that prepares a diverse workforce of talented students to make immediate and significant contributions to the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE).
As a NNSA-MSIIP Intern, you will:
- Participate in world-class research and operations projects and activities across the NNSA enterprise
- Build a strong foundation for careers in science, technology, mathematics, and policy
- Apply your skills and knowledge to real-world challenges, gaining a competitive edge in your field

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)
Different positions for summer internships are available at NREL, depending on major and areas of interest. Many of these positions are part of the Student Training in Applied Research (STAR) Program.
NREL’s STAR undergraduate internship program aims to bridge gaps in education, research, and public service to create career pathways for undergraduate students and build long-term partnerships with minority-serving institutions (MSI) to deliver collaborative research and educational opportunities. STAR opportunities are available to all students, no citizenship restrictions.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)
The REU program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in the study areas funded by the NSF. REU sites meaningfully engage groups of about 10 to 12 students in ongoing research programs or in research projects designed for the REU program.

Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP)
The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) provides an opportunity for college students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory.
The internship has a duration of ten weeks (with the possibility of extending up to four additional weeks). Stipend levels will be determined by the student's years of participation in the NREIP program. Stipends will be paid bi-weekly via direct deposit.
Stipends are as follows:
- New undergraduate student participants: $7,500
- Returning undergraduate students (students MUST have completed a full 10-week program in a prior year to receive this level): $9,000
- Graduate students (students must currently be in graduate school and taking graduate school courses to receive this level): $11,500
Eligibility:
- Enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year college or university (See below for exceptions)
- Solely U.S. Citizens (See exceptions below)
- Rising sophomores or equivalent; must be on track to complete freshman year by the start of the internship
- Students graduating the spring semester before the internship or later (Winter graduates are not eligible)
- Applicants should have demonstrated interest in subjects of study that are relevant to the research conducted by one or more of the laboratories in the program

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) Undergraduate and Graduate Internships
PNNL has different summer internship opportunities available, some are specifically targeted towards Minority-Serving Institution Partnership Program (MSIPP) and Energy and Environment Diversity Internship Program (EEDIP), which 百花视频 students qualify for.
Several opportunities are available (including remotely), depending on the major and areas of interest. Although limited, PNNL also offers some internships to all students, with no citizenship restrictions.

The Ready2Work (R2W) Internship will provide you with a great learning experience within the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE).
You must meet the following to be eligible for an internship:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale as of Spring/Summer 2024
- Meet one of the following conditions:
- Be a current (2024-2025 academic year) undergraduate or graduate student. Be a recent graduate (Spring 2023 or later)
Stipends:
- Undergraduate student - $750/week
- Graduated with bachelor’s degree - $850/week
- Graduate student - $950/week
- Graduated with master’s degree - $1,050/week
- Graduated with a doctoral degree - $1,150/week
- Virtual Internships: If no relocation is required to complete your summer appointment, you will receive a stipend supplement of $150 per week to offset the cost of remote participation.

Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program
The SULI program encourages undergraduate students and recent graduates to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the Department of Energy (DoE) laboratories. Selected students participate as interns appointed at one of 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities. They perform research, under the guidance of laboratory staff scientists or engineers, on projects supporting the DoE mission.
The SULI program is sponsored and managed by the DoE Office of Science’s, Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) in collaboration with the DoE laboratories/facilities.
Benefits:
- Research interns spend 10 weeks (summer term) or 16 weeks (semester term) at a DoE laboratory engaged in a research project under the guidance of a laboratory scientist or engineer
- Host laboratories provide enrichment activities, including career professional development workshops (e.g. technical and scientific writing skills development, poster, or oral presentation activities, etc.), laboratory tours, scientific lectures and seminars
- Host laboratories provide all required site-specific training
- Participants receive a stipend of $650 per week during the appointment
- Selected students are reimbursed for one round trip domestic travel to the host laboratory (if permanent address is more than 50 miles from the host laboratory). Transportation expenses will be reimbursed on the basis of the most direct route
- Housing information will be provided to interns prior to arrival at the host laboratory.

The SURPASS Program supports highly motivated faculty-student teams for 10 weeks of multidisciplinary, hands-on research. SURPASS students will also receive professional development through workshops and social/cultural activities. The aim of the program is to encourage students to gain valuable professional skills through immersion in research projects and cultural exchange, enabling them to acquire a deeper understanding of our global connectedness.
Application Period: February 1 - March 15 Annually.

This yearlong series of workshops and mentoring activities for sophomores, juniors and seniors is aimed at providing mentoring and support for undergraduates interested in graduate education. Attendees include Texas ECE and non-UT undergraduate students from across the state of Texas. The professional development workshops will provide the support and self-efficacy tools that students may find useful to move forward from undergraduate to graduate school, while involved in summer undergraduate research in the process.
ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
- No minimum GPA requirement, rather a wholistic review of the applicants
- For the Summer Research Experience, you must be available for entire 5-week period
- Statement of Purpose (One typed paged describing the student's interest in the research experience for undergraduate program)
- Resume, including the name and contact details of one faculty reference
- Unofficial transcripts
Application Period: Application deadline for the new academic year cohort is February 15. Applications for the next cohort will begin in September.
